Refelting Your Pool Table Reattaching the Rails |
Once all
of the pockets are done, its time to reattach the rails. Using a screwdriver,
or pencil, locate the holes from underneath the table, and GENTLY push up on
the felt so that you can make a small "X" type cut where the bolts will go
through. |
 |
Just a SMALL "X" cut in the felt. |
 |
Allen laying down on the job as he lines up the
holes with the rails, and gets the bolts started. Only make them finger tight
until you have all of the rails in place...You'll need to kind of push and pull
them a little bit to make sure they are seated, and lined up properly. When
you're happy with their placement, go ahead and tighten them all the
way.
NOTE: felt can come in different thicknesses.
(for example, some high-speeed felt may be slightly thinner) which can alter
the way that the balls will bounce off of the rails, because of the difference
in height from the bed of the pool table to the edge of the pool table rail.
This can cause the ball to either be pushed down into the bed of the table, and
then bounce up, or, if the felt is thinner than the old felt, the edge of the
rail could be lower, and cause the ball to hop when it bounces off of the rail.
You may need to go back and adjust the height of the pool table rails to
correct this potential issue usng some shims to experiment with adjustment, if
you encounter this problem. |

New pocket liners!!! Way cool. Very simple and
straight forward. Just place the newbie in the pocket, and mark it for cutting.
Allen just used his utility knife for cutting these. You'll also have to trim
the lower part so that the balls can pass without getting caught
up. |
 |
Just use a couple of small brads to hold the pocket
liners in place for now. You might find that you need to trim them further once
you start playing. |
 |
Well there it is... all recovered with new felt!!
Ready to rock!! I say, "RACK 'EM!"...Allen says, "wait 24 hours"...bummer!!
Well, given that I just spent big bucks on this, I guess I'll wait. Pressure
from leaning on the newly installed cushions might cause them to
shift. |

Loral Langemeier of Live Out Loud presented a class about Tax Strategies that I attended and she was able to show how to to turn the expense of having my pool table recovered into a business deduction.
Basically, as long as I have the appropriate business license, I can use a website like this one with the intention of creating income, the expenses that are incurred, are a tax deduction.
Now, not only do I get to write off the expense, but I also make money every day of every month by giving away this free information... Thanks Loral! |
